Do you notice anything different?
You will, if you’re reading this post on our site and not from your RSS feed. Look up there. There’s a little icon that lets a computerized voice read this or any Just Giblets post to you! All courtesy of Odiogo. How cool is that? It almost sounds human. “I all most sound hoo mahn.” There’s even a supah-easy plugin for WordPress that does all the heavy lifting.
They market this thing as a lazy person’s gateway to podcasting, but I don’t know how practical that is. I’d rather podcast with my own voice. This guy don’t sing, for one thing. But I’ve always wanted to hear a computer say these things:
Life is a banquet! And most poor suckers are starving to death!
I cannt stann im!
I’m depraved onna cownna I’m deprived!
My NAME is MELINDA!!! Melinda, Winnifred, Wayne, Tentrees. And I am APPALLED. And STUNNED. At this OUTRAGEOUS… inquisition!
Oh, man, how cool is that?!
Aw bummer. I just figured out that Odiogo only converts the last 10 or so posts to speech. I was hoping to hear the one about Kitty’s leg sticking up cause it’s got an Icelandic word in it. That should be funny. Oh well. I assume that from here out, all the posts will be listenable!

Hello Scot,
I’ve just found out about this Odiogo…
Yeah, it’s very nice and the speech is 90% human like.
I want to ask, is it free to use?
Does odiogo charges you for any fee?
And did you found anything better than Odiogo?
Thanks for the info,
Regards.
I’ve not paid anything for Odiogo, but I think you found that out. I see you have signed up yourself for your blog. I haven’t looked for anything else, actually, though I’ve seen a couple other services. While I think it’s pretty fun, Odiogo isn’t terribly useful for our blog. Our content isn’t really *that* talky or conducive to podcast.
Best of luck with your new blog.
