1. Name a movie that you have seen more than 10 times.
Oh, so many. The Women (my film of choice when I’m sick or feeling bitchy), Hannah and Her Sisters (which I’ve essentially memorized—good to have on in the background whilst cleaning or the like), Sense and Sensibility (just so pretty), Titanic (oh, the shame! But it’s true. The costumes and set decorations are fabulous and the script, possibly the worst in the history of cinema, is good for many a laugh). Many others.

2. Name a movie that you’ve seen multiple times in the theater. Howard’s End; the opening scene with Vanessa Redgrave walking through the grounds was so gorgeous on the big screen.

3. Name an actor that would make you more inclined to see a movie. David Strathairn.

4. Name an actor that would make you less likely to see a movie. Michael Douglas. I just want to smash his smug face in and he has a disturbing tendancy to be nude in film which is…just…no.

5. Name a movie that you can and do quote from. So many. The Goodbye Girl probably inspires the most quotes from me: “I’m quite fond of you myself, you have some very nice qualities”, “Get your old mother a coke; mother doesn’t want to have to beat you”, “I was putrid. Capital P, capital U, capital Trid”, “I’ll break this priceless $9.00 lamp all to pieces!”, “I don’t have to do it anymore, the American Theater is saved."

6. Name a movie musical that you know all of the lyrics to all of the songs. My Fair Lady.

7. Name a movie that you have been known to sing along with. Meet in St. Louis.

8. Name a movie that you would recommend everyone see. Casablanca. It’s a classic that actually lives up to it’s reputation.

9. Name a movie that you own. Little Women. All three versions. As an aside, in the future I want someone to invent a machine that will take the best performances from each version and put them into one film. My dream cast would be Janet Leigh (Meg), Katharine Hepburn (Jo), Margaret O’Brien (Beth) and Kirsten Dunst as Amy as a child and Elizabeth Taylor as Amy as an adult. Mary Astor as Marmee, Paul Lukas as Prof. Bhaer (although Gabriel Byrne was pretty hot).

10. Name an actor that launched his/her entertainment career in another medium but who has surprised you with his/her acting chops. Brian Dierker, who was a sound man until Sean Penn cast him in Into the Wild. He was perfect and I never would have thought he was a non-pro. The two kids in The War Zone were pretty amazing too.

11. Have you ever seen a movie in a drive-in? If so, what? You know, I never have.

12. Ever made out in a movie? Nope.

13. Name a movie that you keep meaning to see but just haven’t yet gotten around to it. Hmm. I just saw The Best of Everything, which occupied this slot for years (so worth seeing too!) How's about Mona Lisa? Clearly, I need to see Mona Lisa at a drive-in while making out!

14. Ever walked out of a movie? Yep. A Clockwork Orange—that rape scene on the big screen was way too much for me. Also, A Streetcar Named Desire—I couldn’t stand Brando.

15. Name a movie that made you cry in the theater. I sobbed loudly for the last 30 minutes of Glory. I hate movies where they make you love the characters only to kill them off. Injustice is also a surefire way to get me bawling.

16. What’s the last movie you saw in the theater? The Dark Knight. Gotta see a movie like that on the big screen.

17. What’s your favorite/preferred genre of movie? Costume drama or comedy.

18. What’s the first movie you remember seeing in the theater? The Sound of Music. We were broke and it was in the high 90’s so my mom bought us tickets to SOM at a revival house. We sat through it 3 times to stay in the air conditioning.

19. What movie do you wish you had never seen? A Clockwork Orange but if you want a new one Pretty Woman infuriated me. Luckily, I was working at a movie theater so I didn’t have to pay to see it.

20. What is the weirdest movie you enjoyed? I don’t know the name of it but in grade school they showed us a movie where the camera started out focused on someone’s pupil then pulled back until it was out of the galaxy. Did I mention I attended school in the early ‘70’s?

21. What is the scariest movie you’ve seen? David Lynch productions irrationally terrify me. Even though the film was drek there are bits of Wild at Heart that still haunt me.

22. What is the funniest movie you’ve seen? I laugh at Annie Hall and The Goodbye Girl even though I’ve seen them a million times. Bringing Up Baby brought me to tears of laughter.

For the record, Jennifer Jason Leigh was well restrained in MARGOT AT THE WEDDING. I hope she keeps it up.
